Building Innovation

Our aim is to promote exchange and collaboration between members through networking and business opportunities, the creation and development of innovative collaborative projects allowing to setup startups and spin-offs in the medium term.

Think different…

Innovation and collaborative entrepreneurship are essential to achieve a knowledge-based economy and sustainable socio-economic development. One of the prerequisites for successful implementation of a national strategy is the commitment of the various ministries and departments involved to value the research results. Such a commitment will lead to ownership, the use of research results and the acquisition of technologies through the creation of innovative companies. The bet of a transition to economic models allowing the creation of high value-added companies passes through spaces of innovation that remain to be created. Innovation infrastructures are real instruments for promoting STI, entrepreneurship development and the creation of new jobs.

Thus, the setting up of incubators and business spaces on campuses allows the emergence of an ecosystem of technological development and innovation able to significantly solve the costs of foreign outsourcing. Several factors are in favor of such a strategy with programs that can be launched in the areas of ICT, e-health, smart cities, agriculture and irrigation, electronic payment, e-learning and e-maintenance. In terms of startups, the actual creation of companies from academic incubators remains rare due to administrative constraints related to the regulation of common services. Great ideas lose their effects by facing  administrative slowness and lack of mechanisms for young people to express their talents, despite the availability  of many infrastructures.

Centre of Innovation and Technology Transfer (CITT)

CITT is a scientific institution bringing together actors from the professional world and research. It provides scientific and technological expertise to companies that do not have research / development center and also allows the transfer of technology between research structures and the professional world (creation of innovative companies, exploitation of patents). CITT are located in Bejaia, Tlemcen, Batna and Biskra.

National Incubators and structures for incubation

Incubators are special spaces for hosting innovative projects that have a direct link with research. They help project leaders to formalize their ideas and validate the feasibility of projects. They offer to project promoters support in terms of training, advice and financing and host them until the creation of Startups. We have two national incubators in Chlef and Ouargla universities, while 13 others are waiting for agreement.

 Laboratory-Fabrication
(Fab-Labs)

Fablabs are dedicated spaces for the design, prototyping, and production of physical objects. These 26 open spaces created in universities provide access to 3D printers, pending additional equipment like 3D scanner, laser cutter, vinyl cutter, electronic bench, scroll saw and software. Fablabs have become meeting places for students designers, engineers, and robotics specialists. These spaces are more and more appreciated.

Challenges: Competitions for Incubation

In order to promote the innovation and employability of  researchers and students, the research centers were invited to plan the organization of  challenge on innovative ideas related to themes within their areas of expertise.

CERIST: Smart living and environment

Following the success of the first edition of the challenge- in June 2018, the  CERIST is organising a second edition October 15th to 17th. The call is launched for students. The laureates will receive a personalized assistance in the incubators and will be accompanied until the implementation of his/her start-up. Themes 2019 : Smart Environment, Smart Health, Smart Agriculture, Smart Transportation.

CRBT: Device design for medical diagnosis

The Biotechnology Research Center launched the first edition of the BiotechInnov challenge from March 26 to 28, 2018. After a pre-selection of the submitted projects, sixteen candidates participated to the final competition. selection was made by a jury of experts, based on criteria of originality, innovative  idea and its feasibility. Four  laureates were awarded during the closing ceremony in the  last day.

Valorisation of Research Products

More than 400 products were exposed during  the National Research Products Exhibition (July 2018). Experts identified 153 projects which could be incubated for creating startups. This is to confirm the ability of researchers to take on board the concerns of the socio-economic sector, when these are expressed and formalized within a partnership framework.
